I say this with full confidence that the fan base of this game did not play the game.

But this combined with the pushover enemies just makes fighting enemies tedious and annoying rather than scary. Although like other horror games, Bendy tries to make the combat feel clunky and awkward to make combat seem more dangerous. They’ll never kill you and even if they do, there’s zero consequence for death since you just respawn with no progress lost. Oh and speaking of the enemies, the combat in this game is laughably bad. The first two chapters barely scratch 30 minutes of playtime. When put together with the constant backtracking in that chapter, it’s to pad out the run time. The RNG element isn’t designed to make the game more replayable. Need to kill three of a specific enemy? You guessed it, random spot. Gotta find some gears for some lady? They’re all in random spots! Need to solve some weird oil puzzle? It’s in a random spot. Searching for a needle in a haystack wouldn’t be as irritating as it is if the locations weren’t randomized to prevent the use of a guide. Chapter 3 in its entirety revolves around you going back and forth between the same three floors multiple times with a “different” objective. This is especially apparent in Chapter 3. The puzzles aren’t bad because they’re easy or hard, but rather they’re specifically designed to waste your time. As a puzzle game, the puzzles go from mind-numbingly simple in the first two chapters to intentionally irritating in the latter 3. The gameplay of Bendy is just plain boring at best and tedious at worst. The content is bad and aimed at kids just to make money. Making a kid-friendly horror game has become the equivalent of YouTube clickbait. A seemingly kid-friendly mascot really being a nightmare creature wasn’t something invented by FNAF, but it’s undeniable that the idea exploded apon its release.

But hey, at least the character and monster design is cool.īendy and the Ink Machine is just another kiddy horror mess.Ever since Five Nights at Freddy’s, dozens of greedy and clout-chasing developers have tried to recapture the fame that series had garnered. On top of all this, the ending is extraordinarily unsatisfying, leaving you thinking 'what, really?'.

The combat is also incredibly dull and inconsistent, one of the boss fights is good, but the rest (including the final 'boss fight') are exceptionally boring. Death is also of zero concern, as you lose absolutely no progress by dying, and usually respawn right where you died.

Additionally, trying to make your way through this game is awful, as doors will randomly unlock with no indicator of it, meaning you have to constantly double check doors. The majority of this game is fetch quests, with one chapter being particularly miserable in this aspect, as it it literally get something, come back, get something, come back, get something, come back, for far too long. Would not recommend, Bendy is very cool as a nice little short story, but it was obviously far too short when it was finished, so they had to really inflate how long the game would take, and they did that by bogging the game down with time wasters.
